It's one year later

It's like a ghost story told at a campfire. The movie needs to extend that section up to the appearance of the evil entity.

She needs to dial it back a couple of notches

I just didn't want the time jump to come so soon. I want to play with the tension of that opening a lot more. Once it jumps ahead, the story is fine, but I do question Yana not just Uber herself out of there. It may work better if Yana isn't so driven to leave the house.

This is a nice little horror mystery with some inventive turns

The last act has some great ideas that caught me by surprise. They would be even more surprising if a particular part isn't revealed earlier.

Pre-production finally began in 2001, after 30 hours of second take filming and a table read with Paul Newman, Uma Thurman, Robert De Niro, James Gandolfini, Nicolas Cage, Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, Edie Falco and Kevin Spacey, but the project was abandoned after the September 11 attacks because a scene in the script (page 166) “predicted” the attacks.

Adam Driver and Nathalie Emmanuel had no chemistry

This film reminded me of The Room and Adam Driver’s performance was more like Tommy Wiseau. Awkward dialogue and a poor script that he couldn’t read. Since the film was shot during the pandemic, I wonder if they met before they were cast or if they were just cast over Zoom. I bet Adam Driver, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Aubrey Plaza will be nominated for a Razzie and maybe even win.

It was pretentious, shallow, and a waste of money

I’ve never seen a group of actors this “talented” who didn’t have the self-awareness to ridicule themselves and make us wonder if they’re actually talented. I walked out before the end because I couldn’t stand the bad dialogue, it was like the actors were talking to a wall and had only learned their lines 5 minutes before. That opening speech from Hamlet was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. The shots looked like a 2003 TV movie edited on Windows 95.

It’s not that bad, it’s good because I couldn’t follow the plot because it was all jumbled up

If you’re like me, I didn’t know anything about this story in the movie, so it was a really interesting watch.

I really like what she did with this movie, I felt like it was missing something

This is a good movie, not great, but Anna Kendrick did a great job in her directorial debut. Apart from a few scenes, it lacks the suspense that could have made this a really great thriller. Regardless, this is a solid film that I would recommend giving it a watch once, and I hope to see more Anna Kendrick directors in the future!. The last season of "What we do in the shadows" is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
